South African dancer and musician Limpopo Boy has found himself at the centre of a growing social media storm following the circulation of an intimate video allegedly involving him and a woman rumoured to be married.
The award-winning performer, whose real name is Robert Matome Thoka, initially addressed the scandal through a statement released by his management on Sunday, 9 August 2026. His team described the footage as private content that had been obtained and distributed without permission.
However, the controversy has since intensified after an alleged Facebook Messenger conversation attributed to Limpopo Boy appeared online.

In the unverified screenshot, a person questioned the dancer about the incident, telling him: “Bro, that was a serious matter.”
The account attributed to Limpopo Boy allegedly responded: “But she wanted it, was I supposed to deny?”
When reminded that he is a celebrity, the account reportedly replied with an unclear reference to “Damien Silwane” before later saying: “Stop judging me, not you out of all the people.”

The screenshot has not been independently authenticated. It also does not explain why the intimate encounter was allegedly recorded or how the video eventually reached the internet.
Lobola jokes take over social media
Rumours that the woman seen in the footage is married have sparked a flood of memes and reactions. Some users joked about a husband allegedly paying R85,000 in lobola, only for another man to “unlock SIM 2” — slang referring to gaining access to an intimate act reportedly denied to the husband.
One viral reaction read: “Imagine paying R85K for lobola and they don’t even use a lubricant on her, they use Vaseline Blue Seal — only for Limpopo Boy to unlock SIM 2 that your wife has been refusing to give you.”

Despite the jokes, there is currently no verified evidence confirming how much lobola may have been paid, whether the woman is married, or whether she is the wife of Limpopo Boy’s friend. Those claims remain allegations circulating on social media.
Limpopo Boy’s management has not confirmed the identity or marital status of the woman.

Management condemns video leak
In its official statement, Limpopo Boy Crew Management said the footage was stolen and distributed maliciously without authorisation.
“This content was stolen without consent and shared entirely without authorisation. This is a serious violation of privacy and a criminal matter,” the statement read.

The team said it had engaged cybersecurity specialists to investigate the source of the alleged breach. It is also reportedly working with lawyers and online platforms to remove links and copies of the footage.
Members of the public were urged not to download, forward or otherwise distribute the intimate material, as doing so could cause further harm and potentially have legal consequences.
The video controversy has divided social media. While some people criticised Limpopo Boy for recording such a private moment, others argued that leaking and distributing intimate footage without permission remains wrong, regardless of how it was initially created.
