WATCH VIDEO HERE: Durban Mother Dies After Daughter’s Video Sparks Online Outrage

A heartbreaking tragedy has shaken a community in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, after a mother reportedly took her own life shortly after discovering a controversial video involving her daughter circulating online.

The young woman had appeared in a widely criticized “casting interview” linked to a man identified as Ivo Suzee, a figure authorities have previously warned the public about.

The video, which has spread across social media platforms, shows the young woman participating in what appears to be a modeling interview connected to the controversial operation known as African Casting. The platform has been accused of luring young women with promises of fame and opportunities in modeling or entertainment, only for the interviews to take disturbing and manipulative turns.

Viewers say the interview began with seemingly harmless questions. The young woman explained that she had graduated the previous year and was hoping to explore opportunities that could lead to a better life. Like many young South Africans facing high unemployment, she appeared hopeful that the interview could open doors.

During the interview, she was asked lighthearted but unusual questions. When asked who she would invite to spend time with if she could choose anyone in the world, the interviewer suggested it could be anyone — even Jesus. The young woman shyly responded that she would invite Oscar Mbo, the popular South African DJ and music producer.

When the interviewer asked whether she would like to be famous, she politely replied, “Yes, why not — but in a proper way.” She explained that if fame came, she would prefer it through singing or acting rather than shortcuts.

The interview then drifted into stranger territory, which many viewers found disturbing. At one point, the interviewer continued asking questions while eating raw minced meat on camera — a moment that left social media users shocked and confused.

Despite the uncomfortable atmosphere, the young woman answered questions calmly. Asked about her dreams, she said she hoped to travel one day. Visiting places like Dubai or Thailand for vacation was something she had always imagined.

She also described smaller dreams that many people take for granted — such as flying on an airplane for the first time. When asked if she would like the ability to fly like a superhero, she smiled shyly and said yes.

In another moment that has unsettled viewers after the tragedy, the interviewer asked whether she had ever had a “secret feeling” about how she might die. The young woman answered simply: no.

When asked what she felt most grateful for, she responded softly, “Being alive.”

Authorities had already raised concerns about the controversial casting operation before the video surfaced. The South African Police Service (SAPS) previously warned the public about activities linked to African Casting, stating that the operation was under investigation after multiple reports suggested young women were being misled with promises of fame and modeling contracts.

Police urged aspiring models and job seekers to verify agencies carefully and avoid situations where individuals demand private or inappropriate interactions in exchange for career opportunities.

The devastating loss of the mother has reignited conversations about exploitation, online humiliation, and the desperate reality many young people face when searching for work or opportunity.

South Africa continues to struggle with extremely high youth unemployment, pushing many young people toward risky offers that promise fame, money, or a chance to escape poverty.
