Four Years Without Menzi Ngubane

It has been four years since the passing of legendary South African actor Menzi Ngubane, yet his absence is still deeply felt by his widow, Sikelelwa Ngubane. Best known for his unforgettable role as Sibusiso Dlomo in Generations, Menzi passed away on March 13, 2021, at the age of 56 after suffering a stroke.
As the anniversary of his death approached, Sikelelwa took to Instagram to share an emotional tribute to her late husband. Posting cherished photos of their wedding and special moments together, she expressed her ongoing grief and longing for him.
Sikelelwa’s Heartfelt Tribute
“March 13, 2021—my life changed forever. Nothing has made sense since then. They say time heals; I am still waiting. It has been four years since you left, myeni wami (my husband). My prayer is that one day, I will hurt less. Continue to rest in peace. Uyohlala usezintliziyweni zethu (You will always be in our hearts),” she wrote.

Menzi and Sikelelwa were married in a beautiful traditional ceremony in 2019, celebrating the start of what was meant to be a long and loving union. Before their marriage, Menzi had previously been married to Lerato Sedibe.
Finding Strength in Sharing Her Story
Despite the immense pain of her loss, Sikelelwa has found strength in opening up about her grief. She has become a source of inspiration for other widows by sharing her journey and encouraging healing through community support.
She joined the Showmax reality series Widows Unveiled, where she starred alongside other well-known widows, including Mandoza’s wife, Mpho Tshabala, and Lerato Ngadi, the partner of the late rapper HHP. The show provides a platform for women who have lost their spouses to share their experiences and support each other through the healing process.
